ST. Mark's School of Texas celebrated their centennial with the addition of an administration and classroom hall, Centennial Hall. The new building completes the academic quad on the south side. MESA provided a master plan for the campus and a landscape for the addition. My contribution to the ST. Mark's project was primarily design development and construction documentation. I designed and drafted the graphics shown. This project was a unique challenge because of the legal issues we negotiated during planning. Some of the neighbors protested the new building with the city, and we were tasked to devise a screening plan that satisfied the neighbors, the city, and the power company whose easement was required for the screen planting. We arranged planting of 25' Magnolias in a tight space. Conflicts with utilities, both existing and proposed complicated the construction of the new addition. After much coordination, everyone was satisfied, and the project was allowed to commence.
